Hey all, RYLA videos are currently in the process of being sent to YouTube, and taking their sweet sweet time... Would have uploaded them at work, but it kept failing on me :(
Anywho, when they HAVE uploaded, they will be available at http://www.youtube.com/ryla2010bonnyhills
Check back to see if they have been uploaded, I've just left my computer running.
Don't forget that I'll do up a DVD to post out to all RYLArian's too. PLEASE copy it and give to your friends and families to show them what you got up to.

Andy C Signing Out
Well this pretty much wraps up the week. Today has been a strong realisation on what RYLA is really about. Words cannot describe what the feelings of the day were like, so it will be impossible for me to even start to try and put words to it. I'll leave that to Ash, our awesome wordsmith :)
Over this past week, I have made some awesome friends who I intend to keep in contact with. Spending this week with them, in the situations we were in, is a special thing, and knowing that I may never do this again is saddening.
However, great memories will last forever.
Much love to all RYLArians

Previously in life I have come across many barriers and detours; at times finding myself hopelessly lost, confused and afraid, without no sense of direction or self.
I now know who I am, where I am, where I am going and how I will arrive at my chosen destination.
RYLA has provided me with these tools; whilst also renewing faith in myself that I am capable of achieving my goals. The only thing I now fear is fear itself.
I, not events, have the power to make me unhappy or happy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and im going to be happy in it ♥
Words can not express my gratitude
Thankyou immensley Rotary; Ivana and John for providing this opportunity :)

Goodbye, I'll miss you...
RYLA has given me a real opportunity to grow as a person and determine who it is I want to be. I want to be someone of influence who makes a difference in the life of the people around me. The teachings of this program have helped me to determine this and given me a true sense of direction which I haven’t had since I wanted to be a fairy princess!
I have made so many life-long friends that I know I can truly rely on. It has been the greatest pleasure.
This course has helped me to gain self confidence on both a professional and personal level. I truly believe that it has made a difference in the future of this generation and recommend it for anyone who wants to be part of ensuring a greater tomorrow.
Love Kim

Last night in RYLA land.
Hey guys its jaimi-lee here.
shattered that it is the last night at RYLA. i mean seriously the friends you make here will seriously last a lifetime. they are all completely amazing in many different ways. Thanks to John Carroll our amazing mentor who gave us our many talks. Thankyou to Ivana who gave me the opportunity to come to RYLA and have the most amazing experience i hav ever had in my life, and i will never ever forget it. I would recommend this program to anyoneee.
Before i came here to the wonderful RYLA land i had no idea what confidence or self esteem was, it has always been non exsistant in my life and i thought that it always would be, but being here has totally changed my opinion on everything. I was petrified of being on stage in front of people. But GUESS WHAT? i got on stage in front of about 100 people and i sung my little heart out, i wouldnt of been able to do that if i didnt come here. Self esteem was a huge issue of mine, but i have now learnt to be happy with who i am. I even hosted the RYLA has talent today. The people here have amazing talent, and i think that in life they are going to go hell far with them.
I just wanna leave one last note. Remember RYLArians, reach for the stars and never give up your dreams and goals, use the skills you have learnt here and go further on in your life. I am extremely happy that i have met you all and i hope we can get together at some stage and see how we are all going, you guys taught me to open up, let my feelings free, i was really bad at that, i used to bottle them up but as we saw, i can be a blubbering mess on the microphone, not finish what i was saying sit down for a minute, then give it another go and stil turn into a blubbering mess so sit down again and 3rd time lucky it all turned out.
So thankyou everyone here. BIG THANKS TO JOHN CARROLL AND IVANA AGAPIOU FOR GIVING ME THE LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE THAT WE TODAY CALL RYLA 2010!!!
P.S GO TEAM COGSPOF, oh and the movie turned out great too. TREE HUGGIN HIPPIES!

Last Night in RYLA Land
Its Friday Night and my last night at RYLA. Im feeling a lil sad as its taken a while for me to feel comfortable and settled just wishing I had a few more nights to get to know everyone a little bit more. Its been a life changing week I have learnt so much from the last week and am going to learn so much more when I get back to reality many changes will be made when I get back to Sydney. I have met so many great people and am happy I got to spend this last week with them all its one week of my life that I will never forget. The speakers have been so inspirational and I will be taking something from each one of them to make some changes in my life.
I hope that when I get back to reality that the changes I want to make with my life start strait away. I'm so greatful that Max May nominated me to come to RYLA and Tamworth First Light gave me the opportunity to attend RYLA 2010.
Looking forwad to seeing all the photos and videos of our time here at RYLA.

Last Night at Ryla!!!
I Can't believe it is already the last night!I was so unsure coming here last Saturday,Soon it will all just be a memory in the past! A wonderful memory I will never forget, an experience that has changed my life! Before coming here I was nervous, unsure and lacking confidence, I leave here proud, confident and so positive about the new chapter in my life that is about to begin! I now have life goals that i am determined to succeed. Yes Josh retired by 30! haha Today I found myself very emotional,I never imagined that i could meet so many special people, which i hope to continue a long lasting friendship, sharing lots of laughter & tears. I put myself out of my comfort zone! Jumping off the leap of faith at rock climbing but an even bigger challenge was public speaking and talking about my emotions.I could not have achieved this without all the support.I have had challenges in life that i learnt to overcome,I now feel it has only made me a stronger person.I can not dwell on the past I will now live in the present. John has done an amazing job keeping us all interested and focused in each and every seminar, and ryla would not have been the same without Ivana organizing everything, done such a fantastic job! having the group bonding session this afternoon where we went around the team each saying positive things about each other was an experience i will probably never get to have again, to be appreciated by such awe inspiring people! was unforgettable!Laura was the best leader ever! I feel very lucky to meet such a beautiful person. It's now come to an end!But hopefully the start of many new wonderful things!Keep in touch everyone! Thanks again. Love yous all! Sasch Xo
Special K Over and Out
It has been a crazy week: Frendships have been forged, career paths been mapped out and soul's shaped. Sieges weathered, fight together, friends forever.(Janco, Maria V Snyders "Poison Study")
We've had some watery eye moments. The rock climbing on day six was both physically challenging and tested our trust in each other. The group activities were concluded by RYLA rap and character anaalysis presented by our team mates. We got to tell others, with the aid of an 'Indian Talking stick',how we felt about each other's personalities. Most of the last day has been overwhelming so its hard to put words down now but all in all it has been a memorable week, one that we shall remember for the rest our lives.

Last Entry for RYLA
Just finished 'RYLA's got talent'. What a night! So much fun. We also played laser tag, did rock climbing and finished our lectures with John today. We also sat down in our team and discussed what good times we have had together and what we saw in each person.
Today has been incredible! Today I pushed myself both physically and mentally. We all got up and talked about what the week has been for everyone. It was a very emotional session. The thing that I discovered was that I have always survived emotionally by the accolades of those around me (excluding me family). I realise I can't do that anymore. I need to give myself some slack and a little credit. I have always thought if be tough on myself that I will be a better person for it, but that got out of hand. Now I'm on the way to be happier with me! Thank You for catching me RYLA!
Also, I now know I have the skills to be great. I always knew I could be good but now I will become something a better. I now have a strong conviction and motivation to reach higher than I was before. I also learnt a lot about the others in my group. I said today that 'When a group of people go into the unknown together they tend they grab on to each other for support. I've got my claws in now and I'm not letting go of any of them. SO GET USED TO MY CLAWS BEING IN YOU!!!!!'
Thank you RYLA for everything and i will remember everything for a lifetime. I will do you proud!

Our Last Supper
Well it is our last dinner together, a BBQ under the stars. I'm going to miss being surrounded by young, talented, very special people and am very grateful for the experience. Today, everyone expressed what they have got out of RYLA and many of us have not only realised our potential but have learned that they can achieve their goals, short & long term.
I wish everyone the best of luck for the future and please keep in touch with one another.

Amie-H'doggs Day 6
Hey Blog Followers,
Well its day 6 here in Ryla Land and it has been an amazing journey. But to put the record straight Buster is not the best team around H-Doggs is by like 100%. Today we went rock climbing and Laser tagging. So much fun and a great exercise in trust. Firstly of all Thank you Ash for putting your trust in me. I know how hard it is to put your trust in someone and I feel truely greatfull. Don't trust Caleb when you are laser tagging as he will shoot you in the back the first chance he gets! LOL Apart from that he is a great leader and I know that I personally have learnt a great deal from him. Today was, in my opionion the most emotional, physical and mentally draining day in the whole week and it was amazing that we could all share our emotions so freely. Thank you everyone for an amazing week it will definately be a week I will never forget.

Goodbye RYLA Land
Fortunately I had one last chance to write a blog before I leave.
Today fun was had when we went rock climbing and laser tagging. A lot of people really made an effort to stand outside their comfort zones.
We wrapped our learnings for the week and it was when John said that was all from him, that it hit home our journey was coming to a close.
We all got up in front of one another and shared our learnings for the week which as you can imagine was quite emotional and showed how truly close we all are as a team.
We then got into our teams and worked on our Ryla Raps which we will present tonight during Ryla's got talent. We are dressing up as a movie star or movie character so I had better go and find a costume!
Thanks again everyone for such an amazing experience :)

First of all Buster is not the best team, H-Doggs is the awesomest ever!
RYLA = one of the best experiences of my life
It has given me a chance to step away from the influences of the outside world and given me a chance to focus on myself. I do not know how it will affect me when i get out but I hope to stick to my goals and not to loose myself.
I got to do a lot of things I probably never would have tried like surfing, rock climbing and puting myself in a position to start all over again
Thank You RYLA and goodluck to everyone

today at RYLA Land we all got into our teams and done the finishing touches on our RYLA Rap. we also went to laser tag and indoor rock climbing which i convinced myself to climb the highest, hardest and almost impossible wall, this was a great achievement for me as i am pretty scared of hights. after Johns last speech today we all got a little emotional as we come to a relisation that the end of RYLA Land was coming to an end, we all had our turn of getting up, with confindence and a very passionate talk of what RYLA has done for us, it was hard to hold back the tears but it just goes to show how we are now able to open up to each other because of the trust which grew between us, this was just one of the many skills i for one have been able to gain and i am sure it goes for everyone else as well here. i would highly recommend anyone and everyone that if ever giving the opportunity to come to RYLA grab it with both hands and never let go. being Aboriginal this was very inspirational experience for myself, with Bryan MacLean an Indigenous man proving to me that it is posible to break the barriers that us Indigenous people face each and everyday which hold us back from achieving our goals. from RYLA land i know that this will not be the end for the friendships that were made, for we all agreed to stay in contact with each other, whether through emails, phone calls or visiting each other. being here i now know that i have to focus on my goals and that i have to lead myself before i can lead others. GO H'DOGGS. Elliot keen 2010.
Day 7 John Baker
What are wonderful time i had today doing laser tag and rock climbing for my first time which i will be following as a sport doing some of the hardest ones and the only one getting it finished gonna go again when i get home never knew i could do some of the climbs i did

So, today is our last full day of RYLA.
How different it was to all of my expectations.
I have learned far more than i have ever thought i could in such a week about things I had never even thought about.
This week has been one of the most memorable and life changing experiences i have ever had.
I would love to thank John, Ivana and every Speaker we have had, all sponsors and rotarians.

The past week has to have been one of the most enriching, challanging and personally confornting experiences of my life - and ive been fortunate to experience alot. The group that has been here is made up of the most intelligent, compassionate empathetic and friendly group of people in the world. Facing challanges each of us could only face together we have been throught so much. Have to say a big thankyou to the amazing staff leaders, especially my own leader and mentor Jack, whom without this would never have been possible. Without these dedicated and enthusiastic indvuiduals the program could never have been as powerful as it has been. Thanks again! - Ash - from Cogspofian and the land of ryla.
Rock climbing and laser tagging.
Today we went laser tagging and rock climbing. Laser tagging was more fun than anything, but I enjoyed rock climbing the most because it was not only fun but there were major challenges, such as the leap of faith activity, and having the mental strength to continue when I was physically exhusted, with the there being a huge mental reward when overcoming challenges and reaching the top.

What a great week! - Sara Marle
This week has been amazing. I have had to look depp inside myself and confront my fears and decide which direction I want to take in the future. I'm really excited to see all of what I have learnt take shape in my life when i leave RYLAland!
Day 6 - Jenna Coombes
Well we have just finished the newspaper fashion show and I must say it consisted of the best looking models you will ever see!!! It was so much fun! Each team had a theme around which they had to create their costumes. My team H'Doggs had to dress up as Superheroes - everyone looked awesome and all Rylarians made awesome costumes considering we only had newspaper, sticky tape, paint and balloons to work with.
This week has been so awesome. Last night we had our formal dinner and it was a lot of fun involving a lot of dancing and a lot of laughter.
This program has been an amazing experience and I have enjoyed it so much. I cannot believe that tomorrow night will be our last night here in RYLA Land :( It is bitter sweet because while I miss home and am looking forward to seeing Matt I am having so much fun and am going to miss everyone here in RYLA land.
This been an unbelievable experience and I have grown and learnt so much out of this as a result of this program. I have developed a lot more confidence within myself and now feel more confident to take on challenges that put me outside of my comfort zone such as public speaking - I know.......public speaking.....can you believe it??
Not only have I grown, I have met the most amazing group of people and I believe they have all contributed to my growth and the benefits I have gained from this program. They are such a kind, caring, fun spirited, intelligent and inspiring group of people and I am so lucky to have met everyone.
I am hoping to post one more blog before we leave on Saturday but just in case I don't get a chance I would like to say:
A big THANKYOU to the all the Rylarians for such an amazing week - it was so great to meet you and share this experience with you. I have no doubt that we will stay in contact and catch up in the future - well at least I hope we do.
THANKYOU so much leaders for just being YOU! You have been amazing leaders and your support and encouragment was invaluable in helping us to make the most of this opportunity and build the relationships that we have while being here.
I would also like to say a big THANKYOU to Ivana and John for all their effort and contribution in making this program possible and their encouragement and support that helped us in building our confidence and making the most out of this opportunity. I have learnt so much from them and can honestly say the program would not be the same without them.
Thanks again for everything guys and I hope that we ALL stay in touch :)

Josh's First (real) Post
We are on day four of the camp today. I shall start by introducing myself. I am Joshua Osborne and am from Armidale. I am 19. Studying at college a B of Arts and B of Laws. I am a very active member of the local state emergency service and am currently undertaking my road crash training. I do a lot of theatre, am part of the youth council and am as active in college life as I can be. The opportunity that this camp has afforded me has been great.
In my life up to a couple of days ago I thought that I was rather in touch with myself, both mentally and emotionally. It appears in my busy life that I have lost touch just a little bit. Not in a drastic 'I need help way' but in what I place as a priority and how much time I give myself. The perfect example is when I was walking to the dining hall. I stopped dead in my tracks and thought 'I forgotten something' touched my pockets, 'where is my phone? where is the SES duty phone? Where is my pager? Where are my car keys (we had handed them in at the start of the camp) and where is my wallet? This is the first week in a long time that i haven't had somewhere to be, needed to worry about turning my phone, the SES phone the pager to silent and when that assignment is due. Time to think and reflect. I needed it to catch my breath and assess where I'm at and where I'm going.
The people too. You can see by their blogs the great people that are here with me. I am meeting and connecting with so many people. I love it.
Forever thankful....

Karan's Feelings
Hi everyone,
Last night was a pretty emotional one. We watched Mao's last dance and I have to say I did get watery eyes. Some of us did ease the mood later with stand up comedy on the projector in the Rec. hall.
So, after all the laughs, at about 1 AM, my mind pulled itself out of sleep and I was wide awake and for some reason, was very Very sad. I was sad because I had met such a nice group of young adults. Ha. Got Ya.
I have never been in such wonderful company. Everyone here is just so like minded but different at the same time. Its like the best have been chosen and put together. The friends that I have made in just the last 3 days and the depth of these relationships have developed astranomcally. As time passes I am wishing it slows down.
The reason I am sad is because I'm halfway into the week and time is flying too quick. I would love to live in RYLA land for eternity but alas our real world beckons.Back to work for some of us, uni for others. I am sure that some of the friendships developed at RYLA would last a lifettime. Facebook, email and phone contacts are being swapped and I'm going to make that I get them all.
A message for all of you out ther reading this in 2011, If you are being given an opportunity to attend, go for it with all you have. You will learn so much here in a week. You may be familiar with some of them but today I got the opportunity to go surf. It wasnt the confidence in the instructors that finally help me overcome my phobia of being in waves. It was the cheering and support, not just mental but physical as well (thanks for all th pushes to catch the waves guys)
Anyway, Ive still got a lot more on my mind that I would like to share here but the dinner call was just made so I've got head.
Catch up with another post soon.
PS I didnt read through this for errors yet. Will come back and fix after dinner

Following the ever constant guidance of our jedi masters (the rylarians) we have continued to learn about ourselves, our goals and our aims - running under our ' team banners or our team 'flags' we fought to the end to find answers racing against time to solve riddles and beat the other teams. As always, a faithful team member, have to say that the songs sung and moves danced, shinnanaghans had were the team COGSPOF!!! - A Dixon
Day the Third - Andy C
Well, it has now come to the third day, and things are going really well! Doing the treasure hunt today which has been challenging, yet easy at the same time, sounds like a juxtaposition, but thats what its like. The speakers this morning were great and definitely looking to have them speak at my rotary club one night!

Nic from Day 3 Bonny Hills
Well its day 3, and to be perfectly honest, feels more like week 3.
The method of teachings this week, has almost forced us into this tight-knit group from Day 1. The people here are incredible. I am constantly amazed and fascinated by the knowledge and skills of such a diverse group of people, it's truly a privelage to be a part of this.
As I continue to grow within myself, I come out of my shell more and more, hard at first, i miss my wife, lisa, incredibly, but her love is giving me the strength to be here, and as i dig deeper into myself, i discover my strength also lies within.
This course is amazing, and i honestly can't wait for the next days to come, to see what other wonderful and beautiful things i will discover about myself, the people attending, and the organisers.
Nic Hinwood.

Thankyou to everyone at ryla for the experience really appreciated
3 days at ryla
on the way down to ryla in the car was feeling various emotions. Quite excited, but at the same time really nervous. Didnt know what to think or what to expect, other than the fact that i was going to have an amazing time, meeting new, and unique people, and learning a lot about who iam and what i want to achieve in my lifetime. At the time of arrival we were introduced to the staff and leaders, who are really nice and fun people.after finding out who our cambin mates are we then headed down to the tea room and started getting to know each other and sharing what we hope to achieve here. The first little exercise we were each given was to look after and baby sit a newly born boiled egg, and make sure that none of the eggefiles in the group would harm them in any way. Ryan was the worst at this by far. hahah His was the first to be attacked. Ive been for an early morning run each morning up the beach with a few mates i have made while ive been here, there names are Jett and John, really nice young fellas.. John Carrol the program co-ordinator has been really great at explaining everything we are learning in ryla land. Well i suppose id better go class is about to begin again. Iam having so much fun and hope to learn more and more each everyday. Theres no doubt i will.

RYLA so far
First day I was nervous and the same time excited, I started meeting new people and they were all nice. We were all given responsibilities lookin after an egg, we had to look after the egg the same way we would look after a baby, they were fines if something happen with your egg. Dont ask me were my eggs is. RYLA is exciting and I am learning a lot so far, its given me time to reflect to myself, learning about others point of view, group activities and most of all learning from John Caroll. I'm looking forward for tomorrow.

New Friends
RYLA has been great so far meeting new people from so many different walks of life who have so many different talents and passions. Its awesome to share all of that with other people! We have looked inside ourselves in order to understand ourselves and what we want from life. The speakers and activities have all been really good and I'm looking forward to seeing what the rest of the week has in store for us!

RYLA 2010 reflections- K Man
Its only day 2 at RYLA 2010 and I already feel like Ive know the people here for months. When I first read the 2008 and 2009 group's testimonials, I observed that almost everyone had called it a life changing experience. I was struggling to imagine how a week long camp would achieve that. A day and a half into it, here I am, saying. "This baby is going to change my life" ;)
I have never had an opportunity to attend a youth camp in Australia but I can confidently say that whatever they have there, it cant get any better than this. I'm in a team of seven, for the rest of the week. We are calling ourselves the 'Fun Fluttabies' and our our mascot, 3FM- the Fantastic Flying Funky Monkey is the creation of one of the workshops from day 1. Been to the Awesome workshops, the beach, the pool, played ping pong, finger painted, had very very deep discussions. The workshops we have had so far cover things that I would never think about. I am culling through my mind, trying to find all these answers to questions I have never had thrown at me. And this is the part that ends up being a life changer..the time when we understand ourselves. Develop ourselves. Change ourselves.

I have already had heaps of fun and met some AMAZING people and look forward to seeing what lies in store for the rest of the week.

Day 1 Sascha
So RYLA week has began! I am now (quoting John) in Ryla land! No Phone, No car keys! but also no housework! I have finally overcome the nerves and so far really enjoying it. Today was full of introduction, and a few team exercises which included a walk down the beach. Tomorrow is a new day!
Day the first - Andy C
Well well well... Julie Andrews was ringing through the air today, with the theme being in usual first day 'Getting to know you' style. It was a great day making some awesome new friends :D
In The Beginning....
Once upon a time a group of charasmatic individuals, otherwise defined as leaders by the communities they originated from, gathered in a place known to many as 'Ryla Land'. Governed by a group of talented and experiened persons, the governors devided their subordanates into teams, who in turn, created the flags under which they would work for their time in this mysterious land. Warned of the perilous journey into themselves and their teams ahead, the individuals soon became adoptive parents of the children of this country (boiled eggs) and a series of misendevours, neglect and egg-napping occurred. As dusk approached and after much inner searching lead by their Lands Captain and Governing Head John Carrol, the teams merged into a night of fun, laughter, sports and small but fun shinannaghans.
